Bayern impresses in friendly win

16 January 2012-PA Sport

Bayern Munich warmed up for the second half of the Bundesliga season with a resounding 4-0 win over German third division side Rot-Weiss Erfurt.

Toni Kroos, Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller and Bastian Schweinsteiger were all on target as coach Jupp Heynckes tested the players he is likely to send onto the field at Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday night after a five-week winter break.

Bayern leads the Bundesliga at the midway stage of the season by three points from Borussia Dortmund and Schalke and four from its next opponent Gladbach.

Elsewhere, Hoffenheim celebrated a 2-1 win at St Pauli with Sejad Salihovic and Ryan Babel on target against the second division side.

It was the first return back to the Millerntor stadium for Hoffenheim coach Holger Stanislawski, who left St Pauli after its relegation last May.

Hoffenheim's first Bundesliga fixture of 2012 comes against Hannover.
