Lala left Hannover last northern summer after making 294 appearances and joined Bayern Munich to captain its reserve team.
But after just three appearances this term, he has decided to call it a day.
"I regret it very much that he is no longer available to us," the coach of Bayern's reserve team,
"He was a great guy and a top sportsman and all of us at Bayern Munich hope that he can make a full recovery and we wish him all the best for his future."
