Satisfied... Felix Magath was happy with his players effort (Getty Images)
Effort was not enough for Wolfsburg as it was beaten 2-0 at home by Mainz on Sunday.
It was a second home defeat of the season for Felix Magath's side, who is in the bottom three of the table after six games.
The experienced coach was not too disappointed in his side, though, preferring to focus on its hard work.
"My side played almost 90 minutes of today's game on the attack and in my opinion put in its best performance of the season technically," Magath said.
"We maintained a high tempo right from the outset, played well right through into the Mainz penalty area and looked to get a goal for the entire duration of the game.
"Unfortunately for all the effort we made, we were not dangerous enough in front of goal and of course not effective enough. We need to work on that."
