Bayern Munich has yet to set a date for Mario Gomez's return to action, more than seven weeks after surgery that was supposed to keep the striker out for only three weeks.
Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes says the operation on Gomez's left ankle on August 7 "was somewhat more complicated, that's why (his comeback) is delayed. You can't tell. We have to wait and see how it goes."
Gomez returned to the training field this week and Heynckes says the 27-year-old Germany striker "is happy to smell the grass, but I don't want to make a prediction".
Gomez has had to watch as his replacement, Mario Mandzukic, scored eight goals in Bayern's first eight competitive games of the season, including five to lead the Bundesliga.
