Kind expects Slomka to sign

19 July 2012-PA Sport

Hannover president Martin Kind believes it will be merely a formality for coach Mirko Slomka to sign a contract extension in the coming months.

Negotiations over a new deal for the club's most successful coach have stalled since director of sport Jorg Schmadtke was given an extended two-month holiday, but Kind expects the deal to be wrapped up as soon as Schmadtke returns to duty.

"Once Jorg Schmadtke comes back in September, we will reopen negotiations and I expect us to reach an agreement quickly," Kind told Sport Bild magazine.

"Everything should be wrapped up come October at the latest."

Slomka has led Hannover into the UEFA Europa League in two consecutive seasons after first saving it from relegation when he arrived in 2010.

His current contract runs until 2013 and he said recently that the breakdown in talks was causing him some consternation.

"Maybe I am not doing a good enough job," he said at the start of pre-season training earlier this month.
