Diouf returns to training

5 July 2012-PA Sport

Hannover forward Mame Diouf has returned to light training with his club in a bid to be fit for the start of the season.

The former Manchester United striker tore knee ligaments in Hannover's 2-0 defeat to Wolfsburg in April and underwent surgery soon afterwards.

His recovery is going according to plan and he has now been given the green light to start light work with his team-mates.

"Our medical department examined Mame Diouf extensively, in close consultancy with the surgeon and the player, and we know that he has worked well according to his plan of rehabilitation," said Hannover's coach Mirko Slomka.

"But he still needs time to make a full recovery. We cannot determine when he will be able to play again at the moment."
