Werder Bremen has signed forward Nils Petersen on loan from Bayern Munich for the upcoming Bundesliga season.
Munich confirmed the deal on Friday and also said that it had renewed Petersen's contract by one year, until 2015.
Petersen, 23, came to Munich last year as second division top scorer from Energie Cottbus but rarely played for the record Bundesliga champion.
The loan deal with Bremen went through after Munich signed Croatia forward Mario Mandzukic from Wolfsburg to bolster its attack, which is currently led by Mario Gomez.
Fortuna Dusseldorf was relegated from the Bundesliga as Hoffenheim and Augsburg staged final-day escape acts.
