German champion Bayern Munich is now among the top five best-supported teams in Europe, according to a continent-wide survey by a Germany-based market research company.
The survey, conducted by Cologne-based Sport+Markt, shows Bundesliga winner Bayern is now the fifth-best supported European club behind Spain's Barcelona and Real Madrid and English sides Manchester United and Chelsea.
According to the survey, UEFA Champions League finalist Bayern has risen from ninth to fifth place and has an estimated 20.7 million fans split between 10 million fans in Germany and 10.7 million aboard.
Despite failing to defend its Champions League title, Barcelona is said to have increased its support base by 13.6 million to a total of 57.8 million fans.
Real come in second, despite losing 10 million fans according to the survey, at 31.3 million supporters while Manchester United is third on 30.6 million and Chelsea fourth on 21.4 million.
