Uncapped Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons has been called to France's training base at Clairefontaine ahead of its forthcoming friendless, the French Football Federation confirmed.

Twenty-two-year-old Gonalons has made six appearances for the under-21 side and has been drafted in as cover owing to the withdrawal of Manchester City's Samir Nasri with a knee injury.

France faces the United States this weekend and Belgium next Tuesday, but coach Laurent Blanc has yet to name his squad due to the number of players who are currently injured.

Newcastle United's Yohan Cabaye underwent a scan on Monday to determine the seriousness of a groin problem, while Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda has a thigh injury.
