Nurnberg announces profit

10 October 2011-PA Sport

Bundesliga club Nurnberg announced a profit of $A5.8 million for the financial year ending 30 June 2011.

The profit has helped stabilise the club after they recorded a loss of 5.3m euros for the previous 12 months.

A successful season in which Nurnberg qualified for Europe, boosting television revenue and gate receipts, were behind the results.

"After the last two difficult business years, our aim was to consolidate Nurnberg financially in the mid-term," Roy Wolf, the club's financial director, said at a press conference in the city's trade fair centre.

"These results for the 2010/11 financial year mean Nurnberg have produced the best operating results in years and taken a great step forwards.

"We want to continue along this route in the future."

The Bavarian club sits two points behind the top six after eight games of the season.
