Naismith makes Everton bow

22 July 2012-PA Sport

Steven Naismith made his first appearance in an Everton shirt as his new side was held to a 1-1 draw at Motherwell.

The northern summer signing had his registration withheld in the aftermath of his Rangers exit, but has now been given the green light to play a full part in pre-season.

Naismith featured for the last 20 minutes at Fir Park but was unable to find a winner for Everton.

The Toffees got off to a good start as Shane Duffy nodded home a Victor Anichebe cross in the first half, although Nicky Law's superb left-footed volley early in the second period saw the game end tied.

Trialist Colin Kazim-Richards featured for West Ham United as it recorded a 2-1 win at Colchester United.

After seeing Kevin Nolan limp off early on, Nicky Maynard gave the Premier League new boy the lead before Mark Noble double the advantage from the spot.

Anthony Wordsworth pulled one back for Colchester, but Sam Allardyce's side held on for victory.

Swansea City romped to a 5-0 friendly victory over Port Talbot, with Stephen Dobbie netting a hat-trick.

The Scottish forward was joined on the scoresheet by Leroy Lita and Henry Jones.

Meanwhile, Mladen Petric's brace helped Fulham to a 2-2 draw with Kaiserslautern.

Ilian Micanski and Albert Bunjaku gave the German outfit a two-goal cushion inside 14 minutes, but northern summer signing Petric scored either side of half-time to earn Martin Jol's side a draw.
