Spurs plan to sparkle

10 May 2012-PA Sport

A win for Spurs at home to the Cottagers would mean Arsenal needs all three points from its match at West Bromwich Albion to stop Harry Redknapp's side sealing third spot.

Livermore, 22, has broken into the first team this season and is desperate to be involved in the final-day fixture which could see the club cement a return to the Champions League.

"The lads are confident and we're all looking forward to putting in a big performance," he told tottenhamhotspur.com.

"These are the games all us Tottenham players want to be involved in, fighting for a place in the Champions League."

The Enfield-born combative midfielder has spent six loan spells away from White Hart Lane but has played in 23 league games this campaign and was quick to acknowledge Redknapp's input.

"The manager has been great with me this season," he said.

"I've played in a lot of big games, both games against Manchester United, Newcastle, Liverpool and I've had a good season but this is the final crunch now and it would be great to be involved."

Tottenham faces a Fulham side which could finish seventh with a win, and Livermore suspects former Spurs boss Martin Jol will set up his side to frustrate the host outfit.

"We know it will be a tough game. Martin Jol will have his team organised, so we'd love to get an early goal and build on that," Livermore said.

The fight between the north London rivals, as well as Newcastle, for a third-place finish has taken on extra significance as victory for Chelsea against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final on May 19 would mean the Blues earn a place in next season's competition.

The team in fourth place in the Premier League would enter the Europa League rather than the Champions League.
