Man City slaps Tevez with mammoth fine

Carlos Tevez will lose close to $14 million after Manchester City elected to fine the Argentinian and withdraw $8.9 million worth of loyalty payments.

Tevez remains absent without leave in his native South American homeland, where he has been since mid-November 2011, as his ugly legal dispute with the Premier League club continues.

He also continues to dream of a move to Serie A club AC Milan, which City chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, says is not going to happen under the current circumstances.

"As things stand AC Milan isn't an option for Carlos Tevez," Al Mubarak told Abu Dhabi newspaper The National.

"(AC Milan’s vice president) Mr (Adriano) Galliani and his advisers have developed a misplaced sense of confidence from their premature discussions with Carlos and his advisers. If they want to be a consideration in this transfer window they would do better to stop congratulating one another and begin to look at how they would meet our terms."

Tevez has two-and-a-half years remaining on his five-year contract with Manchester City, and will be forced to see out that agreement unless Milan or another club can meet the financial demands City expects for its player.

"Carlos remains a player with contractual obligations to Manchester City for the next two-and-a half seasons,” Al Mubarak continued. “Unless we receive an offer that we deem appropriate, the terms of his contract will be enforced.”

City is believed to have valued the striker at around $40 million, a figure AC Milan has to date failed to meet.

Paris St Germain looked close to signing Tevez, but is believed to have gone cold on an agreed deal after the player was quoted as saying he could only see himself playing in the red and black of Milan.

Al Mubarak confirmed talks had been held not only with Paris Saint Germain but also Inter Milan, which City manager Roberto Mancini has also verified.

"Paris St German and Inter Milan approached discussions with us in good faith and it is always a positive experience to deal with people with such a professional approach," he said.
