DJ relishing Blackpool return

1 September 2010-PA Sport

Striker DJ Campbell returned to Blackpool on a permanent basis after two previous loan spells with 'unfinished business' to attend to.

The 28-year-old striker, who previously played for the Seasiders in the latter halves of both the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons has moved from Leicester City on a two-year deal with the option of another 12 months.

And despite having played four games for the Foxes in the current campaign he admits he was keen for a move back to Bloomfield Road.

"It was hard for me knowing I wanted to come back but I'm a professional footballer and I kept it professional," he said.

"I am delighted it has been done and I'm happy to work with Olly (manager Ian Holloway) again.

"I just want to be a part of it and hopefully score some goals.

"The time I had here at Blackpool, fighting relegation, it feels like I have unfinished business.

"It is a bonus to play in the Premier League. It makes me feel hungry and I want to succeed and stay up."

Campbell joined Wycombe Wanderers winger Matt Phillips as a deadline-day signing for the Premier League newcomer.

The 19-year-old has joined for an initial fee of £325,000 ($555.982), which could rise to about £700,000 ($1.2 million) with the Seasiders paying a further six-figure sum should it remain in the top flight this season.

"Matty has been on our radar for some time," said Holloway.

"He did well in the European Under-19 tournament for England in the summer and has played almost 80 league games for Wycombe - which at 19 is a real achievement.

"I can't wait for him to get involved in our system and to work with him on the training ground."

Wycombe boss Gary Waddock was sad to see Phillips go but admitted the chance for the player was too good for the club to reject.

"It's a great opportunity for Matty to play in the Premier League and we couldn't stand in his way," he said.

"He is an outstanding prospect and I'm sorry to lose him but it's a great move for him and excellent business for the football club."

Club owner Steve Hayes added: "How could we deny him the chance to further his career by playing for a Premier League club?

"We offered him a new, long-term contract several months ago but he was reluctant to commit himself and once Blackpool came in he wanted to go.

"We believe we have negotiated a realistic fee for a player who wasn't a first-team regular."
