It’s football finals time on SBS and the network is gearing up to host the season climax of the world’s longest running and most respected club competition, the FA Cup.

On Saturday 17 May, SBS will broadcast the FA Cup final for the 17th consecutive year with football fans across Australia able to watch all the action between Cardiff City and Portsmouth LIVE from Wembley Stadium. The coverage commences at 10:30pm (AEST), with a midnight kick-off.

The two clubs made their FA Cup debut in the late 19th century and have both since secured their name on the prestigious Cup only once in their long history. Cardiff City and Portsmouth will meet in the traditional final for the first time on Saturday 17 May.

Host of the LIVE coverage, Les Murray, will be joined in the studio by former Portsmouth player and SBS chief football analyst, Craig Foster, and former Cardiff City defender, Tony Vidmar.

Internationally renowned SBS football commentator, David Basheer, and former Socceroos goalkeeper, Mark Bosnich, will call the match LIVE from Wembley Stadium and London based The World Game reporter, Adam Darke, will bring in-depth finals previews to SBS in the lead up to the big match.

“My prediction is that Portsmouth will win 2-1,” David Basheer said. “Experience plays a big part in Portsmouth's run to the final.”

“Former Spurs striker, Jermaine Defoe, and ex Liverpool and Lyon forward, Milan Baros, are both provide focal points in attack and at 37 years of age Portsmouth goalkeeper, David James, has been in career best form this season and he will be a big factor in the FA Cup final.”

Kick-off is at midnight.

Match highlights will be shown in Les Murray’s Football Feature on Sunday 18 May from 4:00pm, followed by The World Game at 5:00pm.
