Beye secures Doncaster future

14 February 2012-PA Sport

Doncaster Rovers has completed the permanent signing of veteran defender Habib Beye.

Former Marseille and Newcastle United fullback Beye has impressed since moving to the Keepmoat Stadium on loan from Aston Villa earlier this term and switching to the centre of defence.

The 34-year-old Senegal international has signed an 18-month deal with Rovers after reaching an agreement to cancel his deal at Villa Park.

Beye will be unable to add to his nine appearances for Dean Saunders' side against Blackpool in the Championship on Tuesday evening (Wednesday morning AEDT), though, as he is in the middle of a three-match ban for receiving a straight red card against Bristol City last month.

Earlier this month Beye's compatriot El-Hadji Diouf also committed his immediate future to Doncaster by signing a six-month contract carrying the option of a further year.
