A-League champion Brisbane Roar opened its pre-season campaign in emphatic fashion, overrunning Brisbane Premier League club Olympic FC 5-0 on Tuesday night.
Last season's Golden Boot winner Besart Berisha was the star of the evening, scoring a second-half hat-trick after George Lambadaridis had given Rado Vidosic's side a 1-0 lead at the break.
An Olympic defender put the ball in to his own net to complete the scoring for the match.
Vidosic elected to play a different team in each half and gave South Korean winger Do Dong-Hyun a debut run.
"I'm very happy," Vidosic said afterwards.
"We used it as a conditioning session more than anything but it was great to be out in Brisbane promoting our brand of football and introducing our new players.
"The crowd was just fantastic.
“It’s important for us to engage the local football community with these games and tonight was a perfect example of what a success it can be when you work closely with the local clubs."
In the night's other game, Melbourne Victory put away Victorian Premier League side Oakleigh Cannons 3-0 in Ange Postecoglou's latest hit-out as coach.
Victory did not hit its straps until the second-half when it scored all of its three goals via Danny Allsopp, Cristaldo and Luke O'Dea.
