Susic worried by Bosnia defence

1 November 2011-AFP

Bosnia-Herzegovina coach Safet Susic has confessed he is worried how his defence will cope in the first leg of its Euro 2012 play-off with 2004 finalist Portugal in Zenica on 11 November.

Susic named his squad for the two-legged play-off - the second leg is in Lisbon on 15 November - on Monday and said he faced a selection nightmare in selecting a defence for the first leg.

Mensur Mujdza is out injured while Boris Pandza and Sasa Papac are suspended for the first leg, though both will be back for the second clash.

Susic is likely to start the first match with Sanel Jahic of Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia and Hamburg's Muhamed Besic having been recalled while Susic said goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is first choice starter for both matches.

"We have shown in recent matches that we are a powerful team, but it is true that we will be handicapped in the first match," said Susic.

"It will be difficult to select a defence.

"But I hope that we will be at full strength for the second leg, because independent of the result in Zenica, the second leg will be decisive."

Bosnia-Herzegovina is hoping to reach its first major finals since gaining independence from the former Yugoslavia in 1992.
