New Bayern deal for Contento

20 June 2012-PA Sport

Bayern Munich defender Diego Contento has extended his contract with the Bundesliga club until 2016.

The 22-year-old fullback, who played in the ill-fated UEFA Champions League final against Chelsea last month, was previously tied to the club until 2013 but will now spend the next four seasons in Bavaria.

Contento, who was born in Munich to Italian parents and would therefore be eligible to play for both nations having only figured for Germany's Under-20s so far, made his Bayern debut in 2010 and has since made 47 appearances for the record German champion.

He has already appeared in two Champions League finals, but was on the losing side on both occasions.
