The Qantas Futsalroos completed a three-match clean sweep over the Futsal Whites with a 6-2 victory on Sunday in the final game of the inaugural ASB Trans Tasman Cup.
Coming off the back of a 6-1 win on Saturday, the Futsalroos picked up where they left off, scoring four first half goals courtesy of Aaron Cimitle, Nathan Niski, Daniel Fogarty and Fernando de Moraes. De Moraes added his second midway through the second half before Jarrod Basger sealed the win with his sixth goal of the series just before full-time.
Dylan Manickum and Jakub Sinkora scored for the Futsal Whites in the 31st and 35th minutes respectively.
Futsalroos Head Coach Steve Knight was very satisfied with what had been achieved from the three-match series.
"I'm pleased with how we have performed. New Zealand offered us strong opposition which has enabled me to test out players on the fringe of selection which is a positive for us,” said Knight.
"I'd love it (ASB Trans Tasman Cup) to be an annual event. The spirit from both countries is good, we love to compete against each other and hopefully we get invited back."
The Futsalroos will now turn their attention to a one-off friendly with Oceania champions the Solomon Islands in Brisbane on 10 October before heading to Thailand for the FIFA Futsal World Cup in November.
