Futsalroos train-on squad announced

The Championships follow the 2012 FFA National Futsal Championships and will be held between 21 and 26 February 2012.

“From the group we have selected, we have a very good balance of youth and experience,” said Knight.

“We will have a number of training sessions over the next couple of weeks before the final selection is made later next month.

“We know that our opposition in ASEAN is always improving and we are expecting some very tough matches, but I believe that the boys will be up to the challenge,” he concluded.

The side has been placed alongside Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam in Group B of the ASEAN qualifiers for the AFC Championship. It will face off against Cambodia on 21 February (kick-off 4:30pm local, 8:30pm AEDT), followed by Malaysia on 22 February (kick-off 7:00pm local, 11:00pm AEDT) with its last group match against Vietnam on 23 February (kick-off 5:00pm local, 9:00pm AEDT).

The top three teams from the ASEAN qualifiers will progress to the AFC Futsal Championships 2012 to be held in the United Arab Emirates in May.
