Al Marzooqi heads to Qatar

The 29-year-old defender will be replacing Brazilian Denis Souza Guedes with Al Siliya, who was released from the club after some poor performances during its preparatory camp.

"The decision to sign Al Marzooqi was because of the good performances that he had with his previous clubs or with the Bahrain national team," said Al Siliya team manager Abdullah Al Hanzab.

"We talked to coach Uli Stielike about Al Marzooqi who gave us the green light to sign him," he added.

"Al Marzooqi is an international player and he will be a big addition to our team."

Al Marzooqi started his career with Al Riffa before joining Qatar's Al Rayyan. He played for Al Taei in Saudi Arabia for two years before joining Al Kuwait in 2007.
