Ex-Inter Milan star Ronaldo was speaking to former Serie A rival Alessandro Del Piero on an Instagram live chat.
El Fenomeno won the Ballon d'Or twice, in 1997 and 2002, and told the Juventus legend he deserved to win one too, as well as fellow club talismans Paolo Maldini (AC Milan), Francesco Totti (Roma) and Raul Gonzalez (Real Madrid).
"I’d say there are four players who didn’t win the Ballon d’Or but should have: Alessandro Del Piero, Paolo Maldini, Francesco Totti and Raul," Ronaldo said.
He then added one of his star 2002 FIFA World Cup winning teammates to the list.
"I’d also add Roberto Carlos, who was twice in second place behind me."
Ronaldo and Del Piero discussed a touchy topic for Inter fans - the 2002 Scudetto which Inter dropped on the final day of the season (5 May), losing 4-2 against Lazio.
“I think we lost it ourselves on May 5, there was no other interference, because we were top of the table going into the final weekend. Lazio had nothing to play for.
"In the lead up to that game, there were many strange things going on like the rumours Alessandro Nesta was coming to Inter and we went in too relaxed, which was a huge mistake, because Lazio had players who could hurt us at any moment.
"We lost it because of our attitude.
“It's a wound that is still fresh, especially because every May 5 people tag me in on Instagram posts with images of me crying. They never forget the anniversary.
“Having said that, I appreciate the defeats as well as the victories, because in football the important thing is to be there and take responsibility.”
The two greats also touched on the 2006 Calciopoli scandal, with the Brazilian defending the Juventus players.
“I’ve no problem with the players, you all had nothing to do with the story of Luciano Moggi, Roberto Bettega and the rest…
"We had some wonderful games against each other and you really didn’t need all the stuff going on behind the scenes.”
