Inter Milan won that season's Coppa, defeating Roma 1-0 with a Diego Milito goal, but the match was overshadowed by Totti's nasty kick on young Nerazzurri striker Balotelli.
Roma's visibly frustrated captain lashed out at the forward and received a straight red card in the 87th minute.
Live on Instagram this week, Balotelli said there was no bad blood between them despite the 2006 FIFA World Cup winner never having apologised to him.
“If I really had something against him, I would have told him,” said Balotelli. “At that moment, I realised I was not the problem.
"He committed a bad foul, he took the red card. What else should I tell him? In that game, he suffered the consequences.
“He has not apologised to me in the years since then, but the problem wasn’t me. I wasn’t his target.
“He had other problems in that game. I didn’t even have it in for him. I remember hugging him after the season ended.
"He made a mistake and he paid for it.
“There was no need to apologise at the time.”
