Aussies Abroad: Holland scores, Ryan saves, Postecoglou moves within three points of the leaders

Australian midfielder James Holland got on the scoresheet for his Austrian side LASK as he continued his impressive run of form, while Mat Ryan made a series of impressive saves in Brighton's loss for Chelsea.

Holland, 30, helped LASK move up to second on the Austrian Bundesliga table by scoring the third goal in a 3-0 win over St. Polten. 

The former Adelaide United midfielder headed home in the 50th minute, meaning he now has two goals and six assists in 16 games this season. 

Jimmy Jeggo was also in action in Austria, playing the full 90 minutes for Austria Wien in their 4-1 loss to league leaders Red Bull Salzburg. 

In England, Mat Ryan was the pick of the bunch producing eight saves in Brighton's 2-0 loss to Chelsea.
He was the Seagulls most impressive player, and was only beaten by a Jorginho penalty and a deflected shot by Willian. 

Aaron Mooy also started the match for Brighton, making 26 passes before being subbed off after 64 minutes. 

Jackson Irvine played the full 90 minutes for Hull City in their 2-2 draw with Cardiff City, creating two chances in the process but neither ended in goals. 

Massimo Luongo made his fifth appearance off the bench for Sheffield Wednesday in their 4-1 win away to Middlesborough. Luongo is yet to start a game for his new side in the Championship this season. 

Defender Bailey Wright remained on the bench as his side Bristol City drew 3-3 with Wright's former team Preston North End. The Socceroos defender has only managed two appearances this season. 

In League One, Mark Milligan's Southend United lost 1-0 to Accrington Stanley as they remain in the relegation zone. Milligan played the full 90 minutes in midfield. 

Centre-back Harry Souttar also played 90 minutes and helped keep a clean sheet as his side Fleetwood Town won 3-0 over Shrewsbury Town. 

Ryan Williams played just the first half for Portsmouth in their 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers. 

In Scotland, Tom Rogic and Olivier Bozanic both remained on the bench as their sides, Celtic and Hearts, both drew their respective matches. 

In Holland, Adjin Hrustic played 70 minutes in the historical Amerstdam Arena against Ajax as his team Groningen went down 2-0. 

Away from Europe in Japan, goalkeeper Mitch Langerak helped his side Nagoya Grampus to a 1-1 draw with Sanfrecce Hiroshima.  

Also in Japan, coach Ange Postecoglou continues to impress as his side Yokohama F. Marinos moved within three points of league leaders Kashima Antlers. 

Postecoglou's side currently sit third with seven matches remaining.
