Napoli have reportedly made an offer for unwanted Inter Milan striker Icardi, but it's rumoured he's unwilling to accept and is holding out for an offer from Juventus if they make one.

Brazilian former striker Careca, who played alongside Diego Maradona to win Napoli the 1989-90 Serie A and the 1988-89 UEFA Cup, has reacted angrily to Icardi's reservations about his old club.

“Are we really still waiting for his answer? If he doesn’t want to come, he can go to hell,” said the 58-year-old to Il Mattino.

“Has he understood what Napoli are about, what the San Paolo is, who the Azzurri fans are?

"If he doesn’t want to come, it’s better if he doesn’t.

“If I was at Napoli, I wouldn’t even waste another second on him.”

It's been reported Icardi to Napoli would trigger a transfer for the club's current forward Arkadiusz Milik to Roma, and Roma's Edin Dzeko to Inter in a striker merry-go-round.

Careca, though, thinks Napoli would be more than fine holding on to their Polish attacker, saying: “Napoli already have a good number nine, Milik, who can reach 30 goals.

"He has good positioning, he finishes well and moves with substance.

“He has everything that’s needed in a centre-forward.”

Careca scored 96 goals for Napoli in 221 matches, and 30 goals in 64 caps for Brazil - taking out the silver boot at the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
