Reports claim the 24-year-old is contemplating signing with the signature brand of basketball legend Michael Jordan after he was offered a personal endorsement deal worth as much as A$178 million to replace his expiring contract with Nike.

The Nike subsidiary is determined to break into the football market with the proposed sterling deal following on from a one-off boot collaboration with Brazil star Neymar as well as their jersey sponsorship deal with PSG.

Air Jordan, created in 1984 for Jordan himself, traditionally sponsors basketball players but also has baseball and musicians on its roster.

Sterling's incredible form for City as well as his vocal opposition to racism in football has raised his profile considerably in recent seasons including being the face of a Nike campaign in the UK.

As well as Air Jordan, Sterling has been linked with sponsorship deals with Gillette and H&M. He has an existing deal with Microsoft to promote Xbox as well as EA Sports' FIFA game.
