Aaron Mooy left Huddersfield Town on Friday morning (AEST) - and the prospect of a return to the Championship after last season's relegation - to sign a one-year loan deal with Brighton and Hove Albion back in the Premier League.
The midfielder links up with fellow Socceroo Mat Ryan and there may be a few more blue and white shirts sold down under as two of Australia’s best players are in the same team.
Mooy has been one of the Terriers' best players since he first appeared three years ago, but swapping the hills of West Yorkshire for the bohemian beaches of the south coast town can only be a positive for the player, new club and country.
“We are delighted to welcome Aaron to the club. He has played very well over the past two seasons in the Premier League, and will bring a different option and added competition to our midfield," Brighton coach Graham Potter said.
“He’s been a talisman for Huddersfield in recent seasons with his performances on the field and he’s proved to be an excellent professional both on and off the pitch.”
It is a good time to join Brighton, after Huddersfield endured a torrid 2018-19 campaign and became just the second team in Premier League history to be relegated in March. It was not fun for anyone.
It wasn’t exactly laugh a minute down in Brighton either under Chris Hughton, a coach who liked a rigid 4-4-1-1 formation and was happy for the other team to have the lion’s share of possession.
But Hughton has been replaced by Graham Potter, a highly-rated and progressive English coach who made his name in Sweden with Osterunds before heading back to the United Kingdom in the summer of 2018 to take over Swansea City in the Championship.
They were turbulent times in South Wales with a whole host of players leaving.
Despite the upheaval, Potter took the team to 10th in the ultra-competitive Championship and got the fans on board too.
There was huge disappointment in the valleys - though plenty of understanding - when he was approached by Brighton and decided to go.
While Hughton was tactically rigid, Potter used 10 formations while at Swansea though 4-2-3-1 was the favoured line-up.
This is going to be a team that will play out from the back meaning that Mooy should see plenty of the ball.
Not only that, Swansea played the most passes of any of the 24 Championship teams last season and the fewest long balls.
This will be music to the ears of Mooy, who will be looking to receive the ball from Ryan and it will be something that will have Graham Arnold smiling too.
To have two of his most important players at the same Premier League club can only be a good thing.
Massimo Luongo should also be happy.
He has been a mainstay of Queens Park Rangers for three years but as one of the club's highest-paid player at the cash-strapped London club, it makes financial - if not football sense - to sell to Sheffield Wednesday.
To leave QPR for Sheffield is a step in the right direction.
The Owls are one of those big clubs that have been out of the Premier League for too long.
Despite that underachievement, there was still an average attendance of over 24,000.
If the club can get close to a return to the top tier then there is plenty of potential, even if there is some uncertainty with coach Steve Bruce leaving for Newcastle United.
One thing is for sure though, Luongo has moved to a bigger stage that has potential to be much bigger.
As well as Aaron Mooy, Australian fans should be happy this morning after an English transfer deadline day that will be the envy of Asia.
