A close friend of the free agent - who has clubs in the UK and abroad circling him - Irvine apprised the hustling and bustling predator of the lifestyle benefits on offer in Australia should he decide to opt for Wanderland.
“We’re good mates and speak quite a lot and I’m sure exactly where his head’s at regarding those kinds of offers (from Australia),” Irvine told The World Game.
“It’s probably one of those which is probably as much about a lifestyle decision in terms of his family ... he has three kids.
“It’s a big call to make a move like that. I might have nudged one in there (about Australia) just to see what he’s thinking but he’s keeping his cards very close to his chest in terms of his movements this (northern) summer.
“And rightly so because you don’t want people to get the wrong idea.
“I’m sure he’ll be weighing up his options, of which I am sure he has a few, before deciding what’s the best move at this point in his career.
“I’d expect him to make a decision (on his next step) within a week or maybe 10 days.”
A key player on Humberside, Irvine is an avowed Campbell fan, with the hard-running striker netting 12 goals and six assists in 31 Championship games last season to emerge as the Tigers’ second top scorer.
He’s been linked with a return to his hometown club Huddersfield - where Irvine’s Socceroos teammate Aaron Mooy remains on the books - as well as a possible move to Europe.
The Wanderers, it’s been reported, are prepared to offer Campbell, who was capped by England in 2012, a marquee contract, with coach Markus Babbel looking for an infusion and energy and power up front where he lacks a proven finisher.
“Fraizer was our starting centre forward and his departure (after being offered reduced terms by the club) leaves a big gap to fill,” added Irvine.
“To be able to score double figures in the Championship shows the level he’s still playing at.
“He played some of his best football last year, all round, and I’m sure there will be a lot of teams circling him, especially as he’s coming on a free.”
His Hull exit hasn’t gone down well with fans, with many blaming the club for letting a key asset slip away.
Campbell, who began his career at Manchester United, played offshore previously for Royal Antwerp in Belgium back in 2006-07, where he bagged 20 goals in 31 league appearances (21 in 34 in all competitions).
He also had loan spells at Hull and Tottenham before signing for Sunderland in 2009.
His combined goal tally is 94 in 352 career appearances, with 11 Premier League seasons in his locker.
