The picture shows the legendary goalkeeper racing off in his car to a holiday destination, judging by his wistful caption.
"Travel only has one rule don't come back the same as you left. Come back different," wrote the 41-year-old Italian on Instagram and Twitter.
What it seems he didn't realise is that he was incriminating himself, as a closer look at the picture reveals he was over the speed limit at 155km/h (the speed limit on highways in Italy, assuming he was there, is 130km/h), was not wearing a seat belt, had airpods in his ears, and had only one hand on the steering wheel.
There is so far nothing to suggest he has been charged by any authorities.
The 2006 FIFA World Cup winner is currently a free agent having left Paris Saint-Germain after a single season.
He is keen to continue his playing career and has been linked to a Serie A return with Brescia and former club Parma.
