A report published by Globo Esporte revealed Australia and Qatar as the two teams invited to compete alongside all 10 CONMEBOL nations.

"Qatar, which will also participate in the 2019 edition of the tournament, has been confirmed since April," the report read.

"The other vacancy was set this week. After negotiating with China, which was given as a favourite, CONMEBOL invited Australia.

"The invitation to Australia and Qatar to compete for the 2020 Copa America reinforces the ties between CONMEBOL and the Asian Football Confederation."

It is believed the Socceroos have accepted the invitation but are awaiting a response from the AFC regarding their FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The 12-team tournament has routinely featured CONCACAF nations such as the USA and Mexico in the past, with the 2019 iteration set to call upon AFC powerhouse Japan for the first time since 1999.

Next year's quick turnaround for the tournament has been made in order to realign the Copa parallel to UEFA's Euros and evenly between World Cups.

Brazil will kick off this year's edition against Bolivia on June 15.
