The record scoreline for the Kiwis started when Darwin Diego scored an own goal after just eight minutes. Honduras struggled thereafter as New Zealand took full control with 17-year-old Ben Waine scoring twice before half-time.
Waine's club teammate at Wellington Phoenix Sarpreet Singh starred throughout and managed to add a fourth goal before Matt Conroy finished off the rout to create history for New Zealand.

Nigeria made a sensational start to the tournament with a 4-0 win over Qatar. Left-back Ikouwem Udo was in fine form, setting up the first two goals for Maxwell Effiom and Okechukwa Offia respectively.
In the second half, midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru - who is on the books at Manchester City - scored their third before Aliu Salawudeen wrapped up the win.
Ukraine 2 USA 1
USA may have dominated possession, but the Ukraine came out on top making the most of their few chances.
Serhii Buletsa opened the scoring for Ukraine, but just eight minutes later the US responded through Brandon Servania.
Buletsa turned provider in the second half, as he set up Denys Popov from a corner to secure the victory.
Uruguay 3 Norway 1
Uruguay scored two sensational first-half goals as they beat Norway 3-1.
Darwin Nunez smashed a half-volley from distance before Francisco Ginella produced a wonderful chip to give Uruguay a 2-0 lead just 30 minutes in.
After the break Christian Borchgrevink pulled one back, but Brian Rodrigues sealed all three points for the South Americans after finishing off a swift counter-attack.
