Italy beat Mexico, Senegal score from kick-off: FIFA Under-20 World Cup highlights - day 1

The FIFA Under-20 World Cup kicked off in Poland with wins for Italy, Senegal and Colombia. Meanwhile Japan and Ecuador drew.

Mexico 1 Italy 2

Italy scored a beautiful goal to open the scoring through Davide Frattesi, before Mexico equalised through Roberto de la Rosa. Luca Ranieri scored a second-half winner to give the Italians the three points.

Tahiti 0 Senegal 3

Amadou Sagna scored the fastest goal in tournament history, striking after just 9.6 seconds. He went on to score a hat-trick. 

Poland 0 Colombia 2

17,463 home fans had their party spoiled by Colombia, who struck through Ivan Angulo in the first half and then Luis Sandoval securing the win in injury-time. 

Japan 1 Ecuador 1

Ecuador took the lead just before half-time thanks to an own-goal from Kyosuke Tagawa. Japan managed to turn the game around when goalkeeper Tomoya Wakahara managed to save a penalty before Kota Yamada equalised in the 68th minute.
