Foster will be lining up for the South Coast Community League club in their round three clash against Illawarra Premier League side Coniston FC, on Wednesday March 20 at JJ Kelly Park in Wollongong.

Capped 29 times for his country, Foster will be playing alongside office workers, tradies and miners - most of whom are rugby league converts - and a right-back who still can't take throw ins.

The 49-year-old, who had stints with big English sides Crystral Palace and Portsmouth during his 16-year career, was approached by club president Adrian Arciuli to play for the battling team and explains it's all for a cause close to his heart.

"It's going to be great to pull on the boots again. I haven't played for a considerable amount of time, so any chance to play is always very welcome," Foster told The World Game.

"But much more important than that is that it's an opportunity to raise some funds for charity organisation Mums 4 Refugees and put a focus on that cause over the course of that week.

"So it's a nice opportunity to enjoy playing again, to meet a different community within the Australian football family and to raise some funds for a great cause."
The club will enlist the support of local businesses to raise as much money as they can for the charity who work directly with asylum seekers and refugees, particularly those experiencing financial hardship.

It's a cause Foster is very passionate about having tirelessly dedicated months to the Save Hakeem campaign, which helped save the life of refugee footballer Hakeem al-Araibi.

Foster will get together with the team for the first time this weekend for a training session but doesn't plan on taking on any official coaching duties ahead of the match.

He says he's not sure if he'll be in the starting line up, but he jokes come game day, he'd be willing to employ some controversial tactics to raise as much money as he can for Mums 4 Refugees.

Even if it means going rogue like Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who controversially defied his manager Maurizio Sarri and refused to be substituted in their recent clash against Manchester City.

"I'll have to be a bit like Kepa because what's happening is that these businesses will pay a certain amount of money per minute that I'm on the field," Foster explains.

"Which means that essentially I'm now under pressure to to do a Kepa and refuse to come off. There might be a bit of time wasting as well. So I'll be trying to stretch the game out to 98 or 100 minutes.

"I might speak the referee prior to the game. So you'll probably see me going down semi-injured on a regular basis," he laughs.

"In all seriousness, we'll obviously try to perform well, enjoy playing, meet the community, raise some funds and just have a great night for the game."
