Australia, ranked sixth in the world, will host 39th ranked Chile in Penrith as part of a two game series against the South Americans.
It will be the first time in more than 20 years the Matildas have played South American opposition other than Brazil.
Saturday's clash in Penrith, and the match at Newcastle's Macdonald Jones Stadium next Tuesday, will play a big part in Australia's World Cup preparations with stars Sam Kerr, Alanna Kennedy and Lydia WIlliams returning to the squad after sitting out the tour of Europe last month.
One of the biggest challenges facing Alen Stajcic's side is that their opposition will be very much an unknown quantity.
Kellond-Knight said she doesn't really know what to expect from Chile but felt they would display the same aggression and high intensity off the ball Chile's men's team is renowned for.
"We haven't played against many South American teams before so we will try to have a look at as much tape on them as possible," Kellond-Knight said.
"You'd expect them to be flamboyant like a typical South American side. In a way they could be a lot like Brazil's unpredictable and very individual style."
Defeat could be costly for the Matildas, with the possibility of falling in the world rankings and harming their World Cup seeding.
Kellond-knight said Australia has a poor record against lower ranked nations and it was something she and the rest of the Matildas squad was determined to fix.
"When you look at where we sit in the world we should go into this game as strong favourites," she said.
"However, sadly our record against weaker countries is not the best so it's really something we need to look at hopefully rectifying.
"Anything can happen on the day so if we are not fully focused we could be in for a surprise."
