Ranked sixth in the world, Australia will be determined to secure back-to-back wins against Chile during the two match series as they attempt to earn the highest possible seeding ahead of the Women's World Cup draw to be held on December 9 (AEDT).
For the draw, the 24 nations contesting the 2019 Women's World Cup will be divided into four pots of six teams based on their world ranking.
A fall outside the top six would mean the Matildas would be drawn in the same group as one of competition favourites USA, Canada, England France and Germany.
With the Matildas' preparations for the World Cup heating up, veteran striker Lisa De Vanna said the Chile series would be friendly only in name.
"Yes the game is officially a friendly clash but I don't think we will play friendly," De Vanna said.
"We need these wins because of World Cup seeding and we want to be drawn in the best possible group.
"It is very important we get these results and play a good brand of football."
Sure to help the Matildas chances against Chile is the return of stars such as Sam Kerr, Alanna Kennedy and Lydia Williams who were rested during the recent games against France and England.
De Vanna is on track to play at her fourth straight Women's World Cup in France.
If the 33-year-old scores at the tournament she would join an exclusive group of players who have found the back of the net at four World Cup's, a current Women's World Cup record.
However, De Vanna is not getting ahead of herself and knows her ticket to France is not guaranteed.
"I have to earn my place," she said.
"Physically and mentally I'm in a great place which is very important as you get older.
"I'm really happy to be back around the girls in the squad and I'm determined to give my all.
"I’m a passionate person and very passionate when I wear the shirt which is something I want to show the younger girls in the squad.
"If you play for your country you need to have heart because there is no greater honour."
With bumper crowds expected for the games in Penrith and Newcastle, De Vanna revealed she is excited to play in front of a boisterous home crowd.
"It's great to be back home and hopefully we can get a sellout for these two games," she said.
"Nothing is better than playing in front of your friends and family.
"To run out in front of a huge home crowd cheering your name is something that gives you goosebumps cause for me it was what I dreamed of as a little girl.
"These games will be a real big test and hopefully we can deliver a good performance."
