Despite coming into the game under an injury cloud, Kruse delivered a stellar showing for the German second division club netting a goal and providing an assist in the one-sided victory.

Kruse's 13th-minute strike for Bochum was one for the highlight reel with the Australian hitting the back of the net from 25 yards out.

The Socceroos veteran added an assist to his tally in the 62nd minute when his cross into the box set up Lukas Hinterseer to score his second of the match in the 62nd minute.

Hinterseer wrapped up his hat-trick only minutes later to wrap up the 6-0 demolition as Bochum climbed to second spot on the 2. Bundesliga table.

Kruse wasn't the only Aussie on target overnight with Matildas rising star Alex Chidiac also finding herself on the scoresheet for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

It was a maiden Atletico Madrid goal for the former Adelaide United W-League rising star who netted for the Spanish Women's Primera Division competition leaders during their 6-0 win against Logrono.

The 19-year-old scored Atleti's sixth goal of the match in the 70th minute when she tapped into an empty net from only five yards out.
In Denmark, it was a big day of action for Australian players Mustafa Amini and Awer Mabil.

Amini went from hero to zero from AGF Aarhus after providing an assist in the 15th minute before being sent off 18 minutes from full-time as his side suffered a 3-2 loss to AC Horsens.

A raking ball into the penalty area from Amini to striker Mustapha Bandu helped AGF draw level at 1-1 before Horsens ran away with the match.

The former Central Coast Mariners rising star was sent for an early shower after receiving a straight red card for a tussle in the penalty area midway through the second half.

Horsens held on for the win despite a late AGF fight back.

It was a better night for fellow A-League alumni Mabil who provided an asisst in Midtjylland's 3-1 win against FC Copenhagen.

Mabil was in fine fettle for Midtjylland and his incredible curling cross into the box for his side's second goal was just one of many moments of brilliance from the former Adelaide United winger.

The result moves Midtjylland to second on the ladder behind FC Copenhagen by only one point.

Another player doing well in Scandanavia is Matildas midfielder Tameka Butt who found herself on the scoresheet for Norwegian club side Klepp IL as they won 5-3 on the road against Grand Bodo.

Butt's goal in the 50th minute gave Klepp a 2-1 lead but they were soon forced to fight back after conceding twice in quick succession.

However, Butt's Klepp side found a second wind to score three times in the final 30 minutes to secure an incredible comeback win.

In other action, James Holland played 90 minutes and was shown a yellow card during LASK Linz's 3-1 win against Mattersburg in Austria, Brad Smith played 90 minutes in MLS club Seattle Sounders' 2-1 win against Vancouver Whitecaps, while Denis Genreau and Dean Bouzanis were unused substitutes for Eredivisie club PEC Zwolle.
