Borrello gave his side a perfect start by scoring inside the opening 20 minutes with Kaiserslauten going on to clinch a much needed three compeition points.
Recieving the ball on the edge of the box, Borrello shook off his marker with a good first touch before firing low past the outstretched arms of the keeper and into the back of the net.
The goal was Borrello's second in three games after he found himself on the scoresheet against Holstein Kiel two weeks ago.
With the win, bottom-placed Kaiserslautern move to within a point of Darmstadt in 17th and Borrello’s outfit are now just four points adrift of safety.
