Jedinak proved he had made a complete recovery from the shoulder injury, which had sidelined him for the past two games, by playing out the full 90 minutes as Villa secured a vital three points.

A Robert Snodgrass header in the 75th minute was the only goal of the match but it proved to be enough for the Birmingham based side to secure a tough win on the road.

Jedinak's Villa sit in seventh spot on the Championship ladder, level on points with sixth placed Sheffield United.

In other Championship action, Jackson Irvine helped his Hull City side claim a point against Fulham with a first-half assist in their 2-2 draw.

The Socceroos midfielder delivered a well placed header in traffic to set up Jarrod Bowen with an easy tap in after 32 minutes.

Although it was an impressive first half from Irvine and Hull, the match turned on the Tigers late on with Fulham's Aboubakar Kamara's second-half double snatching a point for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Bailey Wright and Bristol City's impressive run of form hit a roadblock on Sunday as they fell 2-1 at home to league-leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wright, Bristol City's captain, played the full 90 minutes but his efforts were not enough to stop Wolves claiming all three points.

In League One action, Ryan Williams put on an assist and played the full 90 minutes in his Rotherham United side's 2-1 win away from home against Walsall.

Fringe Socceroo Nikita Rukavysta did his national team chances no harm with a 90 minute performance in Israel for club side Maccabi Haifa in their 1-0 loss to Hapoel Acre.

Finally, Jack Iredale found pay dirt with a goal in Scotland's League One, scoring a third minute goal as his Queens Park side played out a 2-2 draw with Albion Rovers.
