Kerr, 24, had an outstanding 2017 campaign for the New Jersey based Sky Blue, claiming the Golden Boot after finishing the season with 17 goals over 22 appearances.
Her 17 goals eclipsed the previous NWSL record of 16 that was set by former Seattle Reign FC midfielder Kim Little in 2014.
The Perth Glory striker also had a great year on the international stage, scoring seven goals for the Matildas, including a hat-trick against World Cup finalists Japan and a further four goals in three matches against powerhouses Brazil.
Kerr wasn't the only one recognized from Australian football, as the Matildas took home the team of the year award after a historical 2017 which included winning the Tournament of Nations and defeating Brazil in front of over 15,000 people at a sold-out Pepper Stadium.
Kerr will be back in action soon with Perth in the W-League when they open their season against Melbourne City on October 27.
