TV presenter left stunned as Victory's Austin walks out on interview

Melbourne Victory winger Mitch Austin has walked off the set during a live interview on ABC TV.

ABC News Breakfast presenter Georgie Tunny was interviewing Austin to preview the upcoming A-League season which kicks off on Friday night.

Austin, 26, was was asked about his club's grand final loss to Sydney FC, giving an incomplete answer before apologising and walking off.

Tunny was left stunned as Austin left the set after appearing to suffer a panic attack.

"You're kicking off the season in a pretty difficult fashion," Tunny said. "How do the club, the players, yourself even, deal with the fallout from last season's grand final?"

A nervous-looking Austin admitted rebounding would be "pretty tough".

"Yeah, um, obviously we've gotta... sorry, I just need to go," he said, before getting up and walking off set.

A shocked Tunny did her best to move on from the segment, throwing back to presenters Paul Kennedy and Virginia Trioli.

"We've just lost Mitch," she said. "But I'll head back to you, PK and Virginia, and we'll see what's happening."

Austin could be seen walking in front of the camera as it cuts back to Kennedy and Trioli.

"Ah, there goes Mitch," Trioli said. "We'll look after Mitch. We'll make sure he's OK."

The ABC breakfast team later clarified that Austin was fine and had suffered from a panic attack.

"I think that he just blanked and then had a bit of a panic attack, but he's OK," Tunny later told viewers.

"We had a good chat outside of the studio, so he is all fine and set to star in Melbourne Victory's season opener in the grand final replay against Sydney this weekend."

Viewers and A-League fans were quick to send their support to Austin on social media.
The Victory play the Sky Blues to begin their 2017-18 campaign on Saturday night.
