Gibson made 12 appearances as Sunderland was relegated from the Premier League last season after finishing last with just six wins.
Speaking to supporters after Sunderland's 5-0 loss to Celtic at home in a pre-season friendly, the former Manchester United midfielder gave a frank assessment of his current side.
"We’re f**king s**t, of course I am [bothered]. I don’t want to be s**t. There are too many people are the club who don’t give a f**k," Gibson said.
The Republican of Ireland international was then asked whom he was talking about, “You tell me who's not committed to the club,” he replied.
"Lamine Kone, (he) doesn't seem bothered," the supporter said.
"Right, there's one, next one." Gibson responded.
"Jeremain Lens, Wahbi Khazri," the supporter continued with Gibson nodding in agreement and replying "next one" to both.
Another supporter than interrupted to criticise Gibson about being intoxicated while slamming his teammates.
"Darren, you? You're off your f**king face in here," the supporter said.
"Right, I might be off my face in here, but I still want to play for Sunderland, the rest of them f**king don't though," Gibson replied.
"Sunderland has been smashed up and you're in here smashed off your face, that looks good for the club doesn't it?" the supporter continued.
Gibson shrugged before saying, "do whatever you want pal, I'm not arsed."
The argument continued with another supporter, before Gibson then claimed he was not "pissed out of my head".
