Troisi linked to Turkey and Russia after rejecting Israeli offer

James Troisi's brief flirtation with Israeli club Maccabi Haifa has failed to lead to a fully fledged relationship, with the Socceroos attacker now being linked with clubs in Russia and a return to Turkey instead.

Despite posing with a Macabai scarf on Sunday, and the club even announcing a pending medical, a deal could not apparently be agreed.

A source close to the 29-year-old - who is looking to make the tenth move of his multi-destination career - said at the weekend that an agreement with Maccabi was "miles away".

And so it has proved with the club officially confirming on Tuesday that he would not be joining them, and instead was in talks with clubs in Russia and Turkey.
It has been reported that Dinamo Moscow, home to former Socceroos defender Luke Wilkshire until last May, are in the mix along with Turkish Superliga outfit Antalyaspor.

Having impressed against Chile for Australia at the recent FIFA Confederations Cup, the future Troisi has been of much conjecture since he parted company with Melbourne Victory at the end of the A-League season.

The free agent was looking to land a deal in the MLS and was also in talks with Premier League newcomers Brighton and Hove Albion but nothing was forthcoming.

While Russia could present a tempting prospect, so might Turkey where he had previous spells with Genclerberligi and Kayserispor.
