Despite a trademark goal for his country, and also an assist for Tomi Juric, the 3-2 loss to Germany left Rogic crestfallen and unwilling to entertain any of the plaudits coming his way as he picked over a contest in which Australia crawled off the canvas but still came up short.
In a sweat-soaked 70-minute shift bristling with energy and ingenuity, Rogic - whose recent winner against Saudi Arabia will live long in the memory - confirmed his ever growing importance to the national team.
But, for Rogic, the most important thing was three points ... and they were not forthcoming.
With Australia falling behind after just five minutes to a neat Lars Stindl finish, Rogic said: "It wasn't the best start ... we got back into it (with his own sweeping finish in the 42nd minute).
"But to then concede again (to a Julian Draxler penalty before halftime) was a bit of a difficult one.
"We controlled the game a bit more in the second half but in the end we weren't good enough.
"But we have something to build on and can certainly play a lot better than we did."
Australia will need to do just that on Friday morning (AEST) to overcome Cameroon in St Petersburg to keep their hopes of Confederations Cup survival alive ahead of their final group game against Chile in Moscow three days later.
"We are confident going into the Cameroon game and we can take a lot out of this and move forward," added the Celtic playmaker.
Rogic downplayed his own performance on a night when his ability to wriggle or ghost past German challenges, and look to play a killer pass or unload on goal, made him Australia's most threatening presence.
"It's hard to look at it at from a personal level, especially in the light of the result, so there's not really much to say on that," he said.
"I think we can play a lot better ... I think there was a bit of frustration within ourselves with that first half performance (where a rampant Germany might have had five).
"But when Robbie (Kruse) came on he gave us a bit of a threat because he's a quality player."
