The 18-year-old is said to be in Belgium having passed a medical and is expected to finalise a deal with Brugge in the coming days.

McGree has had a breakout season in what was a largely disappointing season for Adelaide United.

McGree's performances in his 17 appearances led to a surprise call-up in March to the national team by coach Ange Postecoglou.

While McGree didn't play any minutes for the Socceroos, he is considered one of Australia's most exciting prospects.

McGree would not be the first Australian to sign for Brugge, with Paul Okon, Mat Ryan, Frank Farina and Bernie Ibini all having signed for the club that finished second in Belgium's first division last season.
