The 25-year-old has made 140 appearances for the Jets since making his debut in round one of the 2008-09 campaign at age 16.

The midfielder revealed he had interest from other clubs but said staying was an easy decision after reassurance from new coach Ernie Merrick, recently signed to replace the sacked Mark Jones.

"When a new coach comes in and wants you as part of his plans it makes the decision to stay very simple," he said.

Moss joins Jets as Merrick's first signing
Ernie Merrick has made his first signing as Newcastle Jets coach, luring veteran goalkeeper Glen Moss from Wellington with a one-year A-League deal.

Dual championship winner Merrick, a veteran of 241 A-League games at the helm of Melbourne Victory and Wellington Phoenix, has already made several signings including veteran goalkeeper Glen Moss from Wellington.

The Jets are expected to be aggressive movers in the transfer market over the off-season and are reportedly eyeing the likes of Mark Milligan, Nathan Burns, Mitch Nichols, Alan Baro and Marcelo Carrusca.
