Cahill banned for one match, Bouzanis to face hearing

Melbourne City's Tim Cahill has been given a one match ban for his outburst at the end of Saturday's Melbourne derby, while goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis will have to wait until Wednesday night to find out his fate after the matter was referred to the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee.

Cahill will now miss the match on Saturday against Brisbane Roar, while potentially Bouzanis could miss the next five matches should he be charged under Clause 9 of FFA’s disciplinary regulations.

Melbourne City will also be without Bruno Fornaroli, Luke Brattan, Osama Malik, Fernando Brandan and Manny Muscat who all must serve a one match ban for accumulating five yellow cards this season.

Fox Sports' Mark Bosnich revealed that Cahill "told the referee to ‘have a look at the big screen’ and that ‘you’re a effing disgrace’ ... He said nothing more, nothing less."

Cahill, who was sent-off before even coming on during the derby, was given the minimum sanction for the offence.

Meanwhile during the same incident, Bouzanis was clearly heard using an offensive slur against Melbourne Victory's Albanian striker Besart Berisha.
