The 22-year-old Brisbane Roar product has six months remaining on his three and half year deal, and having put a succession of injuries behind him, aims to ramp up his bid for a first-team call up at the conclusion of the winter break.
Six goals in 16 appearances, plus a number of assists for Monchengladbach’s second string team in the fourth tier of German football, has brought Yeboah onto the fringes of first team calculations.
And he is determined to force his way further into the thinking of coach Dieter Hecking, with the senior side re-starting their season away at Borussia Dortmund on Sunday (AEDT).
Yeboah, whose form for the reserves has helped them open up a three-point buffer at the top of the Regionallega table, acknowledges that the coming months hold the key to his immediate future.
“For me, it’s a vital few months as my contract runs out in June but I am hoping that something will come up in the next few weeks or months if I do well,” said Yeboah, whose preference is to remain at a club which has invested in his talent and has helped to nurture him.
“Anything is possible of course, but I would love to stay with this club and keep learning here at such a big team– that’s the dream for me.
“I will do everything in my power to get into the first team squad here and staying at Gladbach would be great for me.”
It’s understood there have been some initial discussions between Yeboah's management and the club, though nothing has been decided yet.
His form will hold the key as the year unfolds, with the second team returning to action next month.
“I think the club are happy with me but that form (before Christmas) needs to continue, and then if the chance comes I will need to bring that on to the first team,” he added.
“I am confident in myself and I am hopeful I can get myself into the first team squad. I have been injury free for a while now and that’s made a big difference. I have got my routine back, which helps a lot.
“Playing week-in, week-out has been a big thing for me, and with the second team sitting at the top of the table, it’s all been good.
“I am really enjoying my football a lot right now, far more that the last couple of years when I had the injuries.”
Yeboah has set himself a goal target of 20 for the remainder of the season, with this stipulation: “That’s what I am aiming for,” he added. “But I would rather have first team experience than 20 goals for the second team.”
No matter what eventuates with his future, Yeboah – who is on a steep learning curve – will continue his football education in Europe.
“That’s where I want to be … and it’s where I will be remaining. All my energy will be going in to starting at Gladbach, it’s the club I want to crack first before I even think of going anywhere else," he said.
