Brown was in and out of the Roar side for a few years as a younger player, when the more experienced Shane Stefanutto commanded the left-back role, but following Stefanutto's retirement at the end of last season Brown's career has gone to the next step.
Now he hopes the road will eventually lead to him playing for the Socceroos.
"Of course I'd love to play for the Socceroos one day," the 22-year-old told The World Game.
"But for now I'm just looking towards every game with the Roar and trying to establish consistency. I feel I'm doing that and that my game is progressing all the time."
Brown signed his first professional contract with Roar in 2011 when Postecoglou was in charge and says the time he spent under his guidance was invaluable.
"I was only 17 and it was a massive achievement for me at the time and I had one year under Ange and learned so much," he said.
"I only played one Asian Champions League game under Ange. I didn't make my A-League debut until the next season, after he had gone. But I trained with the senior team every day under him and it was a fantastic experience.
"It was at the time that Brisbane went 36 games unbeaten and had a lot of great players."
Brown said one of the traits he loved most about Postecoglou was his ability to galvanise the team.
He said being a youngster in the side at the time Postecoglou constantly offered him simple but sound advice that he still lives by.
"His team talks were really inspiring and he knew how to motivate the team to get up for a game and I thought that was one of his best assets.
"I was at a young age and he just told me to keep working every day, keep improving and my time will come.
"It's simple advice, but it's the advice the people who really know what it takes always give.
"Ange knows what he's talking about and what he said was true. He told me to watch players like Shane and learn from him - and I did.
"It's probably the best advice you can get, to try and learn from the players around you and improve every day. It was a really good environment and it really helped my development to be in it."
