Wanderers CEO guarantees fans won't be disappointed

Western Sydney Wanderers chief executive John Tsatsimas has guaranteed the fans who turn up for the club's first home game at Spotless Stadium, on Sunday night against Newcastle Jets, won't be dissatisfied.

Tsatsimas told The World Game the venue would serve the Wanderers well for the bulk of their home matches while a new stadium was being built at the site of their former home ground, Pirtek Stadium.

He pointed to the fact the club had already achieved record membership for this season, with fans well aware they were going to have to travel to Homebush for games, as reason to believe the supporters would embrace Spotless Stadium.

And he predicted the players themselves would mark the occasion by producing another totally committed performance against the Jets to follow on from the character they showed in coming from behind to beat Adelaide United 2-1 on the road in Round two.

"Our 18,700 members is the most we have ever had, so we are looking to have a great roll-up for our first match at Spotless (stadium)," Tsatsimas said.

"While it is an untested time-slot for us, I have no doubt our boys will put in a performance that will make those that turn up happy with their decision to do so."
Western Sydney are currently in seventh place and Newcastle fourth, but a win to the Wanderers would see them take fourth spot from the Jets.

That would complete a strong turnaround from the club's first-round 4-0 derby loss to Sydney FC, but Newcastle will provide strong opposition based on their unbeaten start - that has them on four points going into the game.

Wanderers winger Steven Lustica said the players were sure the fans would come along to back them with their usual enthusiastic support.

"We've got the best support in the competition and that showed in round one, when they came out in such massive numbers for the derby," Lustica said.

"Now we're playing in a different stadium while we wait for our home ground at Parramatta to be rebuilt, and I'm sure the fans will be there to give us their support.
"It's a different stadium for all of us and we're looking forward to it and I think the fans will be as well. We've trained there a couple of times and the surface is really good.

"We're looking to build on what we did against Adelaide and improve for this game and we'll need to be at our best because Newcastle have gotten off to a great start and had a fantastic win last week against Brisbane.

"They've got confidence and they're going to be hard to beat. It's going to be a tough game, but we'll be ready for that."
